Estonian Association of People Who Stutter invites to Nordic Stuttering Seminar 2024 in Tartu from 6th to 8th of September.

The seminar will take place at the Soho Hotel (https://www.hotellsoho.ee/en/, Rüütli Street 9, just in centre of city).

European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 (https://tartu2024.ee/en) carries the guiding principle: Arts of Survival – the knowledge, skills and values that will help us lead a good life in the future. 

Therefore the main theme of our stuttering seminar is „THE tARTuOF LIVING“.

Seminar starts on Friday at 19.00 with dinner (already since 15 o’clock you can check in at hotel). After dinner we’ll get a brief overview of Tartu and continue socializing.

On Saturday there are several lectures and workshops.

Mental health promoter Umberto Dorus Geerts talks about how to protect oneself in emotionally and mentally difficult situations and how to be happy every day.

Vidunas Ramsa, Ph.D. will give some original information on stuttering therapy, which might be a bit shocking but interesting.

Journalist and tour guide Aimur-Jaan Keskel will talk and share experiences, how to prepare, when you have to speak in public or call a stranger about an uncomfortable topic.

Arne Hope, who has dealt with hundreds of hiring cases, give us advices on how to pass a job interview succesfully.

Some members of Estonian Association of People Who Stutter as motivational speakers will talk about their own experiences, how despite stuttering they to the things in life that they like the most.

Also we all together can make first steps in Estonian folk dance.

The seminar ends on Sunday at noon with open mic and lunch.

Price of weekend is 280 euros (if you stay in twin room) or 345 euros (if you stay in single room). It covers attendance fee, accomodation, all meals from Friday dinner to Sunday lunch and gala dinner on Saturday night.

Sunday, Sept 8, evening in Tartu:

Upside Down House, Estonian National Museum (optional), Science Centre AHHAA. Overnight stay in Tartu.

Monday, Sept 9:

Tõravere Observatory, horse riding at Karl-Eeriku Riding Farm. Lunch (and handicraft workshop) at Luke Manor. A visit to master of Estonian musician instrument squiffer. Overnight stay at Tõrva Veemõnula.

Tuesday, Sept 10:

Centre of Setu (interesting ethnic group) Culture – Värska Farm Museum.

Suur-Munamäe lookout tower (Estonian highest point). Natural beautiful places at Piusa and Taevaskoja. Overnight stay in Setumaa.

Wednesday, Sept 11:

Back to Tartu. Tour on Emajõgi river on vikings barge or other options.

We will drive during all these days with 9seats mini-bus and 5seats car, so we are flexible and free to stop and look around anywhere we want and take into account the wishes of excursionists. We can help excursionists to start their journey to home.
